Project Nepal 2010
March/April, 2010

In January 2009, four Canadian professionals were inspired to make a meaningful difference in the global community. The League of Ordinary Gentlemen was born, and they partnered with Street Kids International, with the goal of funding the start-up of the Street Work, Street Health and Street Rights programs in the long-troubled Terai district of Nepal.

Over the course of 15 months, $60,000 was raised to benefit Street Kids International. In March/April 2010, the group traveled to Biratnagar, Nepal in order to participate in the roll out of the Street Work program start-up. The League assisted with the delivery of the training session and saw the money at work empowering a future generation of Nepali children. Additional photos will be available in our Facebook group, so please join.

The League of Ordinary Gentlemen would like to thank our supporters for making this extremely worthwhile project possible, and also our sponsors for their generous support.

First Annual League of Ordinary Gentlemen Polar Bear Swim
Sunday, February 7th, 2010

The first League of Ordinary Gentlemen Polar Bear Swim took place as part of the Winterfest Polar Bear Swim at Centennial Beach in Barrie, Ontario on Sunday February 7th, 2010. Following the swim, participants and observers met at Oscar's restaurant for an after swim party.

Through donations and pledges acquired by 21 League of Ordinary Gentlemen polar bear swimmers, funds were raised for Street Kids International, towards the project in the Terai District of Nepal.

We would like to thank all participants for their generous support. In addition, thank you to the owners of Oscar's restaurant for graciously donating the food and space for our after-swim event.

First Annual League of Ordinary Gentlemen Golf Tournament
Tuesday, September 29, 2009

The inaugaural League of Ordinary Gentlemen Golf Tournament took place on Tuesday, September 29th, 2009 at the beautiful Kleinburg Golf Club. The support was incredible - the tournament was entirely sold out. Although the weather threatened to become problematic, it eventually co-operated for a wonderful day of golf and camaraderie.

Donations are still coming in and the final proceeds have yet to be tabulated however we expect that the tournament, in support of Street Kids International, will have generated over $40,000 (CDN) towards the project in the Terai District of Nepal.

We would like to thank all attendees and also our sponsors for their generous support. In addition, thank you to the staff at Kleinburg Golf Club for hosting the event.
