The first charitable endeavour of The League of Ordinary Gentlemen was inspired by our founding philanthropic collaborator Marc Reed. Building upon our core attributes of benevolent audacity, resilient spirit and boundless enthusiasm we recognized the pressing need in the impoverished country of Nepal, and came to quick agreement that Nepal would be the setting for our first altruistic venture.

We early recognized the need for a partner in this undertaking given the enormous challenge posed by our goal of making a swift and substantial impact in a very distinct cultural milieu. We laboured over the choice of a partner with our resolve to adhere to our principles of absolute transparency and maximizing the provision of funds dedicated directly to achieving the charitable object.

Fortune found us a partner in Street Kids International, a non-profit agency founded in Canada, with operations in the Canada and the U.K. and successful programs across the world. The focus of this organization is on the millions of impoverished youth facing diverse barriers to leading productive and healthy lives. Through their Street Work, Street Health and Street Rights programs, youth are empowered to make informed decisions to better their lives, and by extension, their community. Street Kids International currently has identified a need to expand upon their two successful programs in Nepal by founding another program in the impoverished southern Tarai or Terai District. Our goal for 2010 is to entirely fund the start-up of the program in the long-troubled Terai. The primary program will be the Street Work program with it’s Street Business Toolkit and Street Banking Toolkit.
